A Cosy Log Barn “I Do” - Hollie & Charlie
We had the absolute pleasure of chatting with bride Hollie about her beautiful February wedding here at The Oaks Barn. Hollie’s day was filled with thoughtful details, seasonal elegance, and unforgettable moments. From her inspiration and planning journey to the little touches that made the day truly personal, Hollie shares what made her winter wedding so special and why February turned out to be the perfect time to say “I do” at The Oaks Barn . . .
Hollie - We knew we wanted a rustic venue, after getting engaged we researched rustic wedding venues near to where we lived and The Oaks was the first to come up. As well as the photographs looking stunning, we loved that it was only 10 minutes from where we live – a hidden gem!
When we visited the Oaks one evening, the venue had limited décor on the tables and we just loved the rustic look. It made us realise that we wouldn’t need to add lots of decoration as the venue was beautiful as it was. We both got into the car and said “that’s the venue to beat”. We had another booking to see a second venue however, after a week we decided to cancel the booking and commit to The Oaks as we couldn’t see ourselves getting married anywhere else.
Charlie and I found a common interest as soon as we started dating and this was Harry Potter. It just made sense that we share our love for Harry Potter with our guests. The décor added a magical touch to our rustic wedding venue, blending whimsy with woodland charm. We chose to put a spin on the ‘sorting hat’ for our seating chart with Harry Potter creatures as our table names – we even sourced a sorting hat for the top of the sign. As part of our guest book we already had a pack of Harry Potter playing cards, where guests wrote a short message that we can now enjoy every time we play a game. With subtle hints to Harry Potter throughout the day we matched this with our colour scheme of olive green and rusty orange.
We added the lantern and candles package onto our wedding day and it didn’t disappoint, it added more magic to our Harry Potter theme. I also had the bridal boutique room to get ready with my mum and bridesmaids. This was perfect for the morning, it created a calm atmosphere and we were all relaxed before the ceremony. There was plenty of room for hair stylist and make-up artist as well as bridesmaids.
The ceremony was the most unforgettable part of our wedding day, held inside a charming rustic log barn that radiated warmth and character. Surrounded by weathered wooden beams, soft candlelight and with a backdrop for all our photographs of crates of logs stacked high.
We had a DJ which also provided our light up LOVE letters on the balcony and in the log barn for the ceremony. They also supplied our rustic photobooth. We chose the BBQ package served to the tables and it did not disappoint. All our guests commented on how delicious the food was, yum!
