September Sunflowers - Jessamy & Daniel

Last September, the happiest colour palette took over our rustic barn. With bright pops of yellow and blue in bouquets and button holes, a dessert table full to the brim with floral cupcakes, blossoming and blooming into life . . . this wedding was as unique as the couple who designed the day. We talk to Jessamy about planning their dream barn wedding day . . .

During the initial stages of planning our wedding, Dan and I had our hearts set on a local, rural and country rustic venue that was close to home. Whilst researching venues in our local area, we initially came across The Oaks on Instagram, and it looked like our absolute dream. We booked a viewing as soon as we could, and whilst we’d also got other venue viewings booked, The Oaks as our first.

We visited The Oaks in early May 2022, with it being our first venue we were so excited! We were blown away from the moment we turned down the drive, as we were greeted by the greenery of the trees/woods and the rustic exterior and we knew it was our perfect wedding venue. Following our first viewing, we promptly cancelled all other venue viewings and booked our late summer 2024 wedding.

Not only did we love the venue, we loved the whole family atmosphere and everything that The Oaks stood for. This viewing was then followed by attending pretty much every wedding fayre they held from 2022-2024. It was really important to us that we sourced local/independent suppliers, and this is exactly what we did. This process was made easy by them all showcasing at The Oaks wedding fayres. All of the staff at The Oaks went above and beyond in making us feel special, as though every wedding they host matters equally as much to them; we felt like family, not just another wedding.

Even before getting engaged, we always knew that we wanted a relaxed, rustic, countryside wedding. The décor and colours would be displayed through hues of green, yellow and blue. The bridesmaid dresses were an easy decision in a muted sage green. They suited the tweed suits worn by the groom, groomsmen and father of the bride. We used Wildlings & Aster florist, and Beth made our floral vision become a reality - blue, sunflower yellow & white coloured flowers mixed with LOTS of foliage, especially eucalyptus. Beth created a perfect flower and foliage column to dress the venues ruatic bar. She also created simple and delicate bud vase arrangements to dress the table centres, and a subtle trailing eucalyptus garland dressed with flowers complimenting the bouquet to dress the top table. We further dressed the tables with eucalyptus bunches, sage green runners and a variation of hurricane vases and lanterns. We used a lot of twine to keep a rustic feel and gave personalised napkin rings as favours as a lasting memory for our guests, all handmade locally in Cheddleton by Nicky Yorke Ceramics.

What was our fave part of the day? . . . . the whole day!

If we had to pick one moment, our most memorable would possibly be towards the end of the evening when Julie and The Oaks Staff joined us on the dance floor! It absolutely made our day that they were able to join us and have a dance - another reason we felt like family! DJ Dave Dee had everyone on the dance floor in no time!
