When the Moon Hit the Dance floor - Ruby & Luke

There’s something truly magical about a sunny June wedding and Ruby & Luke’s celebration was no exception. They said their ‘I Do’s’ surrounded by beautiful woodlands as golden summer light flooding through the canopy above. Their wedding was the perfect blend of relaxed, romantic and joyful. We caught up with bride Ruby to hear how their wedding planning journey began, from those very first ideas and inspirations to bringing their dream day at The Oaks Barn to life.

Ruby - We found The Oaks while searching on Hitched for a rustic wedding venue with a woodland ceremony area. When we stumbled across The Oaks, we couldn't believe how perfect it was for our dream day. The fact it was only 20 minutes from where we live made it even more special.

We visited a wedding fayre at The Oaks in October 2024 and instantly fell in love with the venue. The staff were so incredibly welcoming, and as soon as Julie took us to see The Enchanted Woodland Ceremony area we knew we wanted to get married there!

We are both huge lovers of nature and all things whimsical. We chose a palette of warm, natural colours to complement the surroundings. We are also very lucky to have so many talented and kind family and friends around us. Our wedding stationery was made by our talented friend and artist Sammy, our gorgeous banner was made by one of our fantastic bridesmaids Imogen, the homemade bunting was created by Ruby’s fabulous Mum, and the crescent Moon was made by Ruby’s incredible Dad. So many other loved ones helped bring our vision to life. We wanted our wedding to feel relaxed, personal and full of meaningful handmade touches.

We went for The Pimms drinks package for our post-ceremony drinks as we had a June wedding. Having such a tasty, summery drink was the perfect way to kick off celebrations! Many of our guests told us how much they enjoyed this touch.

We had the amazing ‘Hard To Handle’ band, who brought so much fun and energy to the evening. The dance floor was full from start to finish!

The Oaks - What was your most memorable part of your wedding day?

Ruby - This is such a hard question to answer as the entire day was truly our dream wedding. But if we have to, we’d say our wedding ceremony in the Enchanted Woodland. There isn’t really a word to describe it except for ‘magical’, because that’s how it really felt. Being surrounded by nature, serenaded by birds in the trees and sharing the moment with our favourite people in the world made it incredibly special.
